Everton could be set to bring Jose Mourinho back to the Premier League if the Friedkin Group complete their potential takeover of the Toffees.

Current Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has been looking to sell up for years, with 777 Partners attempting to buy the club earlier this year. But, that takeover deal fell through leaving Everton in the lurch.

However, it now appears as though the Friedkin Group, led by US businessman Dan Friedkin, are set to purchase Moshiri's 94.1 per cent stake in the club which would see them become the new owners of Everton.

And reports have emerged claiming Friedkin could look to appoint three-time Premier League winner Mourinho as the new Everton boss when the takeover is confirmed. Football Insider reports the 'Special One', who is currently managing Fenerbahce in Turkey, is a strong option to become the Toffees next manager.

In the event the Friedkin Group do choose the ex-Manchester United and Chelsea manager to replace Sean Dyche, it would see them reunite with Mourinho who they appointed Roma manager back in 2021. The US consortium also own Roma, which they bought back in 2020.

During his time in the Italian capital, Mourinho helped the Serie A side to a Europa Conference League title back in 2022, with Roma becoming the inaugural winners of the competition after they beat Feyenoord, then managed by Arne Slot 1-0 in the final out in Tirana.

Mourinho, who last managed in the Premier League back in 2021 when he coached Spurs, also helped Roma reach the final of the Europa League the season after, which they lost on penalties to Sevilla.

Of course, if they wanted to appoint Mourinho, they would also have to buy him out of his contract with Fenerbahce, whom he joined earlier this year. The 61-year-old has guided the Turkish side to second in the league so far, with Fenerbahce having one five, drawn one and lost one.
