Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-1 win against Ferencvaros on Thursday night to make it two wins in a row in the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou fielded a young side for this game, and while they didn’t look quite comfortable, they showed enough quality to pick up all three points.

Goals from Pape Sarr, 22, and Brennan Johnson, 23, gave Spurs the victory away from home in Hungary, but Postecoglou will be overall pleased by the performances of the young talents he picked for this game.

The Daily Mail was particularly pleased with the performance of Johnson. Since deactivating his Instagram account, Johnson has scored a goal per game, and he has been described as a “one-man crusade”. The newspaper has given him a 7.5/10 rating.

Young guns impress for Tottenham Hotspur

He came on as a substitute for Timo Werner and made a strong impact in the game.

Werner should have done a lot better with his chances. He wasted an excellent chance on the break when he managed to hit the side-netting after skipping around goalkeeper Denes Dibusz.

In the 65th minute, Postecoglou sent James Maddison, Johnson and Kulusevski to take control of the game, and Spurs managed to get the crucial second goal that led them to another victory.

It was also a memorable night for the club’s youngsters. Mikey Moore (17), Archie Gray (18), Lucas Bergvall (18) and Will Lankshear (19) all made big impacts, with the latter really unlucky on the night to not get his name on the scoresheet.

Moore was heavily involved throughout the game, and he was largely responsible for both Tottenham goals.

Ferencvaros ended strongly and could have scored more, but the likes of Kady Borges and Cebrail Makreckis wasted some very good chances.

Moore was involved again in the second goal. Johnson, who earlier had hit the post, collected the ball from him and shot low with the ball bouncing in off the post.
