The Nottingham Forest squad are busy being put through their paces in the glorious Spanish sunshine and spirits appear to be high.

Forest have been blessed to have pretty much all of last year’s squad available for the training camp and that should put the team in good stead.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Matz Sels joined up with the Forest team over the weekend and a full-strength group will face Millwall this evening.

Every day, in-house matches have been played to try and get Forest used to playing alongside each other and build up fitness.

The winners are usually photographed on social media and yesterday there was a cheeky ending to the latest practice outing.

Morgan Gibbs-White produces cheeky moment during Nottingham Forest training

The winning team yesterday looked like a pretty strong one – with Ola Aina once again on the winning team for the third time in succession.

It was Aina’s teammate, Morgan Gibbs-White, who caught the eye, however, with a real moment of magic to win the session.

Penalty kicks decided which team took bragging rights yesterday and the designated penalty taker stepped up to seal the victory.

With the uncompromising Carlos Miguel between the posts, Gibbs-White waited for him to dive and then produced a panenka straight down the middle.

He wheeled off in delight with his celebration one that Alan Shearer would have been proud of, with his teammates mobbing him.

What Nuno Espirito Santo said about Morgan Gibbs-White

The Forest star is very much the main man on Trentside and he’s been brilliant in the two seasons he’s spent at the club.

Gibbs-White is very much captain material within the Forest squad and this season might the season when he wrestles the armband from Ryan Yates and Joe Worrall.

Espirito Santo is a huge fan of Gibbs-White too – stemming from their time with Wolves.

After a 3-1 win for Forest over Fulham back in April, Espirito Santo raved about the 24-year-old player during his post-match interview.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “Morgan is a very special player for us – very important, talented, the work rate he has on the pitch.

“But to allow Morgan to have these moments of being brilliant, a lot of things happen behind – a lot of hard work from the boys, and this is very important.”

Gibbs-White will be integral to Forest fortunes

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will be keen to kick on this season and keeping Gibbs-White around the club is a must.

Fighting for survival every season won’t be on the mind of the Forest owner and Espirito Santo will be under pressure for results this season.

With Forest having a full pre-season with the main members of their squad, however, there is a real sense that this season can be different.

Gibbs-White is instrumental to the club’s fortunes and Forest are so lucky to have a player who boasts such huge potential at the football club.
