West Ham United-linked Matias Soule wants to join Roma to play alongside his Argentinian friends Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian paper reported via its online edition on Tuesday (July 23) that while the Hammers have shown interest in Soule, they haven’t made an official offer yet and are currently focusing on Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.

Juventus are in the midst of weighing up an offer of around £25million from Roma, which includes bonuses, as they look to sell the versatile forward.

Despite West Ham’s financial strength, Soule’s preference for staying in Serie A is a major factor with Roma having already agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old, Corriere said.

West Ham likely to miss out on Matias Soule

It looks like the Hammers might miss out on signing Soule from Juventus. Even though they have the money, West Ham haven’t made an official offer yet and are now looking at Summerville instead.

Meanwhile, Roma has raised their bid to around £25m, showing they really want Soule. The young player also prefers to stay in Italy and play with his friends Dybala and Paredes at Roma.

This means that Juventus now have to decide if they’ll take Roma’s offer or wait for a better one, but with Soule’s heart set on staying in Serie A, it seems likely that the Hammers will miss out.

And that’s a shame for the East London club because Soule looks like a promising player. He spent the last season on loan at Frosinone and was in exceptional form in Serie A.

The 21-year-old was the lynchpin of a struggling side that was eventually relegated from the Italian top flight, notching 11 goals and three assists in 36 league games.

Soule also created eight big chances and averaged 2.3 key passes per 90 minutes. He finished the season as the most consistent player on Frosinone’s roster, and the Hammers could use a player of such quality.

In other West Ham news, the club are in talks to sign a £15million-plus Olympian.
